10 meilleures innovations françaises au CES

The autonomous watch bracelet

The connected watch is undoubtedly one of the most popular connected objects for its health monitoring of the user. But some people are reluctant to give up their watch. To address this issue, Baracoda has created a bracelet that allows measurements such as heart rate or sleep quality like connected watches but is compatible with standard watches, turning them into smartwatches. The collected information is then transmitted to the phone via an application.

One of its particularities is that it uses the energy of the human body, thus freeing itself from any battery. "People usually go to the doctor too late because of a lack of monitoring of their vital parameters. And when they buy connected objects, they abandon them when they run out of battery. We wanted to remedy these two problems," said Thomas Serval, CEO of the startup. This product received the Innovation Award in the Sustainability category.

Health insurance

The start-up Qiti is the only French insurer selected by French Tech to exhibit at CES. The reason? Data and AI are at the heart of its international health insurance offer. Aimed at business travelers and expatriates, this insurance can be taken out from a smartphone for as little as €29 per month. Qiti offers the insured the best insurance among 35 partner companies, depending on their profile. The location of the smartphone allows the Nice-based start-up to be informed when the user changes country in order to always offer the most relevant deals.

The offer ends upon return to France and covers medical and hospitalization costs, repatriation and access to a doctor. "We have a partnership with Medaviz to guarantee the availability of a doctor in his or her native language in less than three minutes, 24 hours a day," says Cristophe Bernard, president and co-founder of Qiti. In the future, the start-up wants to expand to other types of contracts than health insurance.

The urine analysis device

As mentioned earlier, users want to take control of their health. Some are following specific diets, without knowing exactly what impact their nutrition has on their health. To enlighten them, Withings, the manufacturer of connected objects, presents at CES a device allowing to analyze urine, thus giving the possibility to users to balance their nutritional health and to women to optimize their monthly cycle. The analysis of urine can indeed give access to a lot of information on health, giving an immediate overview of the metabolism.

This mini health lab can be placed in any toilet, U-scan won an Innovation Award in three categories: Smart Home, Fitness & Sports and Digital Health. "The biggest challenge was to make the sensor resistant in a hostile environment, with 100% humidity. The sensor must be miniaturized, hermetic, detect urine and differentiate it according to the person", explains Morgane Descat, marketing manager at Withings. U-scan, compiles 13 families of patents and will be available in Europe from the second quarter of 2023 at 499.95 € with a cartridge allowing three months of measurement. Users will be able to subscribe to receive new cartridges automatically.
